When I told my Hubby nosotros were having "Ground Beefiness & Cabbage" for dinner he looked at me like I was crazy. To our surprise, not but did HE like it, so did our very picky kids! I inverse very little, which was to add Garlic to the cabbage mixture and used ii cans of tomatoes as suggested by other users. I call up if you were only to use a 1/ii head of cabbage, ane can of tomatoes would exist enough. Next fourth dimension, I'one thousand planning on making this w/ all the ingredients listed, garlic, 2 cans Italian diced tomatoes and ane/2 lb Italian Sausage. This is a super-easy, budget-friendly, hearty meal for your family and it tastes great to boot! Don't forget a compression of red pepper flake & some TX toast on the side! Yum! Cheers for sharing!

Simple yet it offers the dynamic of "comfort" nutrient without as well much actress comfort if you know what I mean. Instead of italian seasoning I substituted 1 tsp of cumin and one tsp paprika for that extra kick, and I added fresh tomatoes towards the last 10 minutes of cooking. Too added worcestershire sauce to the meat instead of salt. Eating it correct now on acme of a bed of rice (sometimes I need my carbs). Cheers for the awesome idea!

I loved this recipe! I was sort of leary most it initially but it will become into my rotation equally one of my favs! Not only is it nifty for someone like me that is watching my weight and trying to eat healthy but information technology's succulent! My only regret is not making some cornbread to go on with it. I absolutely hate cooking simply this recipe is so elementary. I simply threw all of the ingredients in a big pot, stirred it a few times and that's it. *I took someone else's suggestion and added a can of stewed tomatoes along with italian diced tomatoes. I also used basis turkey instead of footing beef and I added a touch of sugar and onion powder to add to the gustatory modality.

I couldn't bring myself to boil basis meat, so I sauteed the onions, garlic, and beefiness in a pan with the herbs; and then added the cabbage and tomatoes, covered and cooked for 30 minutes. I served with polenta and sprinkled with parmesan cheese.

Nosotros ran late this evening and I needed something fast and filling simply non heavy and that was not spaghetti (my husbands favorite). I ran across this and had everything on manus in i course or another. I simply had a half a head of cabbage but with the i tin can of diced love apple s information technology was just correct. I cooked the ground beefiness split up considering information technology was ground chuck 19/81 so a bit more than grease than I like in food. I sauteed the onion and garlic and a scrap of diced bacon in a bit of olive oil before I added the cabbage, then after the cabbage added the love apple and cooked beef. I used basil, oregano, parsley, ruby pepper and paprika to sense of taste. Cooked it all downwards, so added some diced zucchini at the end because I had it and information technology needed to exist used. Put information technology all over rice. My husband added grated Parmesan because he does that to annihilation remotely Italian. And he says it is a keeper and to put it into rotation. Yep! Cheap, piece of cake and quick. Thank you for posting this recipe.

I came upon this while looking for something new to exercise with ground beefiness. I simply happen to have some cabbage that I needed to employ and so I gave it a try. Later reading some of the comments, I did add cumin, paprika, minced garlic and 2 cans of diced tomatoes. One can was Italian basil herb seasoned. I did use the suggestion to put it over rice. It was delicious! I do think that adjacent time I will try adding a can of tomatoe sauce to give it more thickness to the juice, but the bones recipe is something I had never tried and the flavors of the cabbage, onions and ground beefiness together and 1 pot cooking makes information technology a winner and a keeper in my recipe book.
03/18/2013
As written, this is a iii-star recipe. Okay, merely not that special or flavorful. I added some Worcestershire, as others recommended, and also some rice wine vinegar and paprika, which gave it more flavor.
02/eighteen/2013
Tin't say anything bad most this one. It was perfect. I did add together two cans of diced tomatoes. Absolutely going to be using this one again.
01/16/2013
I thought it was pretty good. I added mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, parsley, garlic and crushed ruddy pepperand I put over mashed potatoes.I don't recommend cooking this for 45 min it tends to dry out the meat unless you use 2 cans of diced tomatoes.
09/04/2013
Absolutely delicious and then easy to make. I added the garlic, Worcestershire sauce and red pepper flakes likewise as 1 tablespoon of carbohydrate.
03/06/2014
I constitute this while looking for something to practise with a cabbage and ground beef I had on hand and I tin't believe how delicious this came out and yet then easy to put together and, all in one pot! Thank you mtgrapham2! Hubby loved it and said "this is actually tasty". My minor changes after reading the reviews: I had chuck beef and so I browned and drained the meat, (but if I utilise sirloin I won't have to) and set the meat aside, saute the onion till translucent, add the chopped garlic and then the cabbage and stir fried all together for a few minutes. I then added the Italian seasonings PLUS a big pinch of cerise pepper flakes, AND a teaspoon of worcestershire sauce, and then poured in a 14 oz can of diced tomatoes with Italian seasonings (garlic/basil/oregano), AND a 8 oz can of lycopersicon esculentum sauce PLUS a half teaspoon of carbohydrate. Stirred, covered and reduced oestrus to simmer for almost 40 mins, turned off and left for x mins. I served with rice. Perfect corporeality of juice and a crunchy vegetable. This is So succulent and filling too and great for a hearty dinner. I can run into how variations on this uncomplicated meal will apply up what always I accept on hand also. Was just as good side by side day. But criticism is this needed a better photograph - I should have taken one simply we ate it all ;)
12/11/2013
this was awesome!! I added actress tin can of tomoatoes, 1/2lb ground sausage, garlic, extra onion, chilli flakes, cumin, paprika and few other spices I had around. My girl friend thought in that location should be water added, but that would've taken away from the flavour. I guess you could use some beefiness stock? She thought it was going to be more of a soup. She didn't fifty-fifty want to consume information technology but I made her and she liked it. Yous could even but cut upwardly sausage and bacon and chuck it in, that'd be skillful! I cooked this at Low-Med and for virtually an hr.
07/07/2013
Anybody loved this. I used tomato puree and added some carbohydrate and garlic. Served over brown rice. Delicious!
12/28/2012

Super love this recipe. I could not believe my super picky son love this dish. He doesn't like tomatoes and he is picky in eating vegetables. Only he liked information technology so much that he ate a lot of information technology. He put it in a soft taco and roll. I have no tomatoes in can available so I used Ragu considering I happen to take it. I also added garlic pulverisation, cayenne pepper and chili powder because I have no Italian seasoning bachelor. My ground beefiness has more than fats so I decided to chocolate-brown and bleed the fats. This recipe is very easy to make, and very affordable and healthy meal. I will definitely brand this recipe once again.
09/08/2013

04/07/2014
This recipe, with my substitution of Johnsonville balmy Italian sausage, rocked it! Not only was it delish, but it was fast and SUPER EASY!!! I did use two cans of diced tomatoes equally others suggested. My kids rolled it upward in a flour tortilla, but the hubs and I ate it from a basin and knew the calories would be minimal without the carbs. Will I make this again? Absofreakinlutely!
02/17/2015
used 2 cans of diced tomatoes. this was great and information technology made a lot of nutrient!

12/31/2013
ok. cipher special
02/18/2013
First time making and I added a tin can of tomato sauce at the on set. A table spoon of italian seasoning was as well much. Next time I will cutting the italian seasoning down to half a teaspoon and replace with roasted garlic seasoning. Additionally, I pre-cooked the basis beef. Glad I did, I think it would have been too greasy otherwise. I did add a dab of horseradish which gave it only that needed boot. The spicy combined with the sweet of the cabbage was a good mix.
01/06/2013
The only affair I changed was to add together 1 small can of tomato sauce.
05/22/2016
Excellent recipe with a few modifications. I added one/two cup of ruby-red wine, an extra can of diced tomatoes, half to a cup of tomato sauce, ane lb of mild Italian ground pork, Portabella mushrooms, fresh parsley , garlic, 1/2 cup chicken stock, soy sauce and Worcestershire to taste, 1/2 tsp or more than of Paprika and salt and pepper to gustation. I can come across all kinds of ways to vary it, but the original recipe is wonderful too!
11/07/2019
I'yard deplorable perchance its just me but I made this exactly as is with no changes and I thought it was very bland. Maybe y'all have to grow up with it? After tasting information technology halfway though cooking I frantically started reading the other reviews I doubled the Italian seasoning added ii tbs worchestershire sauce a tin of tomato sauce one tsp garlic powder, salt and some ketchup oh an I call up a tbs carbohydrate. It saved the recipe for us at least. My husband put shredded cheese on top and said it tasted kind of similar the blimp peppers except with cabbage instead of green pepper. Anyway he'southward a saint and will eat almost anything with cheese on it. So I guess nosotros did alter it because I don't desire to throw abroad food but my rating is for the original recipe exactly equally written. Personally I don't really like it that much better even with all my changes I think there are ameliorate things that could be made from these ingredients. Just hey could just be me.
01/15/2013
I'grand a fan of cabbage which most seem to non like. However, I was NOT a fan of this recipe. Very bland and tasteless. Even with additional seasoning, I still did not care for information technology. The ground beefiness did zip for the recipe. I'll stick to my link sausage, red potatoes, and cabbage recipe (with seasoning of grade).
10/19/2013

Instead of going to the store, I saw I had ground beef, cabbage and tomatoes to make a dinner. I institute this recipe and it was succulent. I only made adjustments as I only had a i/2 lb of hamburger and two 1/2 lb each of mild/hot Italian. I did use the spices suggested only included garlic and Italian tomatoes as that was all I had. Using 1 1/2 pounds of meat I used all of the leftover cabbage I had and a big can of tomatoes. I would not have altered the recipe simply that was I had on hand. The huge pan whittled down to me with very little leftovers. Even as I put the container in the fridge I managed to scoop three more bites. For those who rated only 3 stars, you should be ashamed at the fact that you practice not taste your product as your cooking. This manner if something is bland y'all can adjust the gustation with spices. This will exist a standard at our house. It's perfect for my diet, filling and my guys ate ii bowls each!!!
03/09/2013
Ok, I messed with the recipe a bit only this was AWESOME! We were not expecting such deliciousness from such a uncomplicated dish. I only had one-half a jar of tomato sauce so I filled information technology almost all the balance of the mode up with water, poured it all in and added two diced fresh tomatoes. I went about this but a flake differently, I replaced the basis beefiness with Johnsonville fresh hot Italian sausage, which I removed from the casing. I browned the sausage and onion then added the Italian seasoning, 3 minced cloves of garlic, and my coarsely chopped cabbage. I cooked and stirred until the cabbage wilted then added the tomatoes and continued to cook until the tomatoes were heated through. I served this on a bed of wide egg noodles with a greenish salad and homemade biscuits. We like it, but the leftovers, which we had for lunch were really good. I believe the next time I will make it far enough in accelerate and then I can air-condition it to meld the flavors. Mr. Graham, I hope yous like the liberties I took with your recipe.
